Archos 101 Home Tablet at CES 2011

Posted by Charbax on January 7th, 2011

Rockchip RK29xx ARM Cortex-A8 based 10.1″ capacitive Android 2.3 Gingerbread tablet. It may cost something like $199 or $249 at retail, price is to be confirmed by Archos once this product is ready to be released. Release depends approximately on Rockchip being able to mass manufacture and deliver their new RK2918 ARM Cortex-A8 high performance yet affordable processor. Rockchip may not deliver RK29 before after March or so, see my other video specifically about Rockchip: http://armdevices.net/2011/01/07/rockchip-presents-rk2818-and-rk29xx-series-processors-at-ces-2011/

You say this 10.1″ Gingerbread tablet will retail ~199USD??? That seems like an impossibly low price.

When is Adobe Flash Plug-in getting certified in the US? My 101 sucks without it. They keep changing the date. The peoplee at Archos do not seem to care. I can’t even watch Youtube. It’s like having an oversized cell phone that doesn’t make calls. I’ve had this since before Christmas. Starting to feel like got ripped off and that flash is just a scam to get you to buy a tablet.

Dude, Flash works. Get it from Android market. Make sure you’re running Archos firmware 2.0.71. Youtube works on my A70. When you see a flash object with a down-arrow icon, tap on the icon. Flash objects DO NOT automatically load, like on a desktop OS. Good luck & don’t give up!

Although it does work that way, it is far from the certified version. Archos or those who own the tablets hear in the US should band together to bring class action lawsuits against both Archosfor promising Adobe Flash in a timely manor and not delivering as promised. Also againt Adobe Flash fot their monopoly on the Flash program. I expected flash to be installed and running when i got it for Christmas. Archos clearly misled it’s consumers by advertising Flash without a clue as to if or when they may get it. As it stands the tablet 101 is a over-glorified color bookreader.I should have waited for the recently released Motorola Xoom. The price is much higher but it is flawless in it’s operation. SIGH!! I will never buy another product from Archos. I suppose you get what you paid for in this case. It has a lot of potential. I don’t want to have to use a uncertified and poorly woking version of Adobe flash. I paid for and expected the real certified version, not a very poor 2nd place at best uncertified and unstable program that affects practically every aspect of the Driod operating system.
