Maemo/Mer is being ported to Archos Gen6 and Gen7

Although this is currently yet just a proof of concept, dm8tbr of OpenAOS.org is reporting on this Archos Fans Forum thread that Maemo/Mer is now bootable on Archos 5 Internet Tablet and Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet as you can see in these videos:

Are you a cool Linux programmer with interest in developing Maemo support on Archos devices? Do you work for Nokia? You are welcome to contact and participate in the OpenAOS.org team to make it work as yet another OS to use with Archos official dual-booting image Archos Developper Edition Firmware.

    this is not maemo its mer its an alternative OS made by the maemo community to allow limited backwards compatibility for the old maemo tablets

    there is no point in this at all b/c the project went unfinished b/c the announcement of MeeGo changing things

    so now there is a mer^2 which will port MeeGo to older nokia maemo devices

    MeeGo is the future theres a lot of new code and updates coming this month, we are even rumoured to be getting a reference UI/UX for smartphones/tablets this month too instead of just the command line.
    i would concentrate on MeeGo instead of Mer, or even join maemo.org and contribute to Mer^2 and help getting MeeGo running on unsupported devices as more more MeeGo code is released, join frenode #meego or #maemo
